Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located and what locations do you service?

LoveLi Celebrancy is located in Regents Park, 35 mins south of Brisbane. I preside ceremonies in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich and Toowoomba, however very willing to travel further for a destination wedding. The furthest I've travelled to date for a ceremony is 6 hours from home. I'd also be very happy to jump on a plane if necessary.

Where can I get married?

I can legally marry you anywhere in Australia, on any day and at any time*.  The location could be in the privacy of your own home, a park, the beach, the top of a mountain, a local business, restaurant or a wedding venue. Check with the local council if you require a permit to host a ceremony in their park or beach. If you are considering an extreme location, or have an adventure in mind, please contact me to discuss.

*I am a school teacher, however a Monday - Friday ceremony is still an option.  Contact me as soon as possible to discuss.

I've got you as my celebrant.
What do I do
next?

For a marriage ceremony, I'll send you a list of ID documents that you'll need in order to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).  This is the first legal document that must be lodged. Secure your date and booking with a $100 deposit. From there, it's a matter of me informing and presenting to you options for your ceremony.  You will answer lots of questions and share your ideas via phone/email/video conference to enable me to personalise your ceremony. Communication will be back and forth regarding the significant details of the ceremony and the ceremony script itself.

For all other ceremonies, it's exactly the same but without the NOIM.

Can you recommend other services like photographers, venues and florists?

Absolutely! Let me help you.  I've collaborated with a range of people who are experts in their field.

I have been married before.  What do I need to do before I can marry again?

You need to provide documentary evidence as to how your last marriage was terminated; death, divorce or nullity. For example:

1. Death certificate from the Births, Deaths, Marriages (BDM) in the state or territory where your spouse died.

2. Certificate of Divorce, Decree Absolute, Divorce Order or overseas issued equivalent.

3. Decree of nullity (order from the court).

What is the difference between a marriage and a love commitment ceremony?

A marriage must comply with the elements of the ceremony as stated in the Marriage Act.  For example it must include the legal celebrant authority, the definition of marriage and the vows. A love commitment ceremony has no legal elements. There are no words to believe a marriage is taking place. Vows may be exchanged but must not contain words as per the format in the Marriage Act.
